HR and Employee Benefits Manager - New York

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

This financial services company is wanting to “stand out from the crowd” - and part of that comes from using a variety of benefits as a tool to attract, engage and retain key talent in the super competitive US market.

As a result, they need dedicated expertise to hone the benefits offering to a small but growing NYC based workforce, who also seek broader HR support spanning training and development, payroll administration, hiring, performance management, and more.

Why do we do it this way?  What should we be exploring to be relevant for the future?  What do we need to do beyond gimmicks to be truly relevant to our work-forces, and desirable to target talent? How do we get the best value for our employees and our company on a finite budget? Why aren’t we trying “something new”?  All of this sums up the focus for this role!

Working as the sole HR professional currently in the US, this person will have the support of a broader HR team based elsewhere in the world, so we need wide ranging HR knowledge, and an advanced understanding of local market employment laws and pending legislations, combined with a genuine interest in working with other dynamic, internationally minded professionals.

Ongoing company growth means this person will be a key day to day contributor for building and refining policy, process and frameworks; and should have genuine options to develop and progress a career by adding additional scope and responsibilities as the company expands.

A work history of administering and managing employee benefits will be particularly useful - this person will be liaising frequently with benefits vendors, and knowing the right questions to ask should help achieve successful negotiations.

An ability to influence demanding, high net worth individuals will be critical - this is a community who respond to facts and data, evidence and proposed solutions; rather than directions “because the policy says so”.

This person will need to present credibly with gravitas to executive level stakeholders of multi-nationalities; and will need advanced levels of English language fluency - written and verbal.

This is a high profile role, that will suit a professional who is ready to take on full ownership of all HR related matters, within a company that has won market share and investment as a result of being more agile and authentic with clients, than its competitors.

A work history within firms focussed on wealth and investment management would be useful for the awareness of regulatory and compliance pressures of that industry and to fast track knowledge of industry jargon.

And given the “new-ness” of the company and team and the need to “bed in” cultural norms, there is an expectation that this person will join everyone else in the NYC office at least 3 days each week.

A base salary of circa $140,000 will be accompanied by an annual discretionary performance bonus plus one of the most generous benefits packages we’ve seen (inclusive of 4 weeks vacation!).

Interviews will be scheduled quickly, with an appetite for this professional to commence ideally within the coming weeks.
