EMEA Payroll Leader - UK work base

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

This mission driven company has continued to grow significantly as a result of new product development, opening of new markets, and acquisition. They’re well resourced, reputable, and demonstrated authentic employee care throughout the Covid crisis. It’s one of the many reasons we’ve continued to hire for them over many years - it’s a pleasure to work with a company that is in the business of saving and improving lives around the world, and that continues to operate with integrity and ethics as an employee of choice.

The company has now reached a critical point in workforce size where it needs to significantly overhaul and upgrade its payroll strategies, tools and frameworks - specifically to ensure consistency, economies of scale, fairness and ongoing transparency.

So we’re seeking a deep subject matter expert in this field - someone who thinks beyond just adherence to efficient process and policy.

This person will be leading a mid sized team, and supporting workforces scattered over 20+ countries in the EMEA region. The company has many subsidiaries and legal entities, in addition to recently acquired organisations. The company regularly employs cross border workers and transfers staff between countries as part of expatriate and global mobility career development programs; in addition to employing significant numbers of salaried, contract, and hourly paid workers.

Working closely with business executive teams and other corporate functions teams, this person will directly contribute to upgrading the entire payroll service delivery model, with immediate priorities for this role include audit, refinement and implementation of:

  • measures for employment law and taxation compliance across multiple states

  • tools to boost operational efficiencies, improved cost controls and transparent communications

  • technologies to reduce administration, increase accuracy and improve compliance

  • risk management advice on pending legislative change impacts, cost of entry into new markets, and multi border work arrangements

This person will need to have a natural curiosity with the ability to look at every aspect of payroll management and administration, and questioning whether it is:

  • fit for purpose for a multi generational workforce?

  • driving desired behaviours and outcomes?

  • reflecting the culture of employee care beyond just legislative requirements?

  • enabling the attraction and engagement of new niche skilled talent?

  • allowing for promotion based on merit?

  • reinforcing DEI committments?

  • ensuring payroll management is fair and equitable across all country markets?

  • scalable to flex to and facilitate ongoing expansion?

An ambitious professional will have opportunities to “bolt on” additional international project responsibilities as part of a career development plan, and possibilities to expand into other geographies, and/or develop into other HR and operational roles within this global company.

Package includes a base salary from GBP90,000 (with options to increase depending on experience level) plus a annual performance bonus and exceptional benefits. Whilst the company is setup for an element of remote working, we have a preference for someone based in West London or in Liverpool given we currently have significant leadership hubs in both locations.

Executive level verbal and written communication skills will be essential; and this role is only available to current UK citizens and/or EU citizens with immediate eligibility for a UK work visa.
