European HR Director - Flex location and above market package

HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OFFER

We're seeking a senior level Director / HR Business Partner, to support business leaders who are hungry for HR interventions that will enable aggressive company growth targets.   This global company is a lovely size at circa 5,000 employees and is cash rich with a track record for successful acquisitions and divestitures that are helping it remain competitive and ahead of market trends.

This person will be leading a small HR team, whilst reporting into a Business President and Global CHRO; with responsibility for ensuring that regional and global business priorities are achieved through the creation of innovative, commercially viable, and relevant HR strategy and frameworks.  This person will be liaising immediately with in-country HR peers who are supporting local plant operations; and working to ensure global initiatives are effective, locally tailored and compliant.  Well established CofE’s are being enhanced currently to improve the resources available to this HR leader.

Talent attraction, talent development and retention are all key on the leadership agenda given the company is operating in a globally competitive market.

The workforce spans highly technical B2B commercial sales specialists, skilled manufacturing, and supply chain experts who are operating with a particularly niche range of product lines.  I expect these workforces will provide many challenges to their new HR Director, given the level of expertise they have in their own core niches and the reactive, almost transactional support they’ve had historically from the HR function.

To date, the business growth has been sound but conservative, and our new executive team want to “kick start” that situation!  HR frameworks haven’t changed for years in some instances, so many aspects need to be revamped.  Additionally, a more aggressive approach to growth could be easily undertaken given the breadth of potential in this market, as could better operating efficiencies in order to maximise profits - this HR leader should be a key contributor in guiding the executive team in achieving these plans.

This is an environment where influencing through data will be welcomed, and where OD & change management experience will be utilised frequently.  A track record for coaching and mentoring others will be highly regarded, as this person will be expected to provide support the development and upskilling of current HR team and Executive capability across their own region and around the world.

Up to 30% planned short and long haul travel can be expected for this high-profile role. Success will certainly provide ongoing development & progression opportunities within the corporation around the world and/or succession potential to the current CHRO.

This multinational employer will be seeking someone with 20+ years’ experience & well-rounded HR expertise, ideally with a history of directly supporting work forces across multiple countries within the EMEA landscape.  Particular expertise for interacting with Works Councils and Unions within the EU will be needed along with strong knowledge for M&A due diligence and integration processes.

English is the company language but additional languages will be highly regarded.  Experience with the implementation of lean methodologies and/or six sigma work practices will be particularly useful.

We will be particularly interested in professionals who offer tenured but clearly ambitious careers within complex matrix international employers; specifically within manufacturing environments.

We have an extensive hiring “wish list” beyond these notes but we’ll respond quickly to HR leaders who have potential interest in this role. Interviews are being conducted currently with the intent to extend an employment offer in the coming weeks.
