Global HR Operations & Systems Leader - well resourced company

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

We’re seeking an accomplished HR all-rounder and HR technology expert for this small global company, who are expanding rapidly as a result of acquisitions and new product development. They’re cash-rich and are investing significantly in their international HR capabilities. Now they’ve reached a point where process efficiency and tech utilisation should elevate HR service delivery and aid more informed decision making, which in turn should enable the company to be increasingly competitive with its growth plans.

With a plan to migrate many acquired company systems and Excel spreadsheets into their current HRIS, and an agenda to digitalise many aspects of HR services, this company needs a professional to build and lead a team to manage and develop an array of technologies that may enable the HR function to offer efficient and pro-active services to their internal customers.

A review of all HR operations is another priority - with a multitude of R&D, sales, and corporate function locations, the organisation is working towards a “one company, one world” approach for consistency and better alignment with their international external customers. With that comes opportunities for economies of scale, process optimisation, transparency and fairness, and building executive decision-making capabilities outside of the traditional HQ. In turn, this requires an audit and refinement of all HR frameworks, factoring in the ongoing requirements for localised approaches to meet cultural and legislative requirements.

The “multi hat” scope and project management focus of this role will suit a leader who knows how utilise resources to deliver solutions and services, without themselves being caught up “in the weeds” to effect results. A leader with the ability to successfully juggle large numbers of projects of varying sizes, without over committing or repeatedly falling victim to scope blowouts! A leader who has exceptional consultation skills to understand what initiatives will bring the most value both short and long term, in order to be deemed as viable and commercial successes by key HR stakeholders and the broader business; and to provide “future state” frameworks that will accomodate continued company growth.

However, this is also a small organisation, with a focussed P&L agenda, ambitions for continuous improvement, and a significant techical workforce who demand ease of use and pragmatic solutions, so we need a leader who can “get stuck in” as required to support a relatively small team to achieve their objectives.

This is an ideal role for the professional who loves applying their broad HR expertise to know what questions to ask, to understand where surprises may be lurking, to appreciate and find harmony for conflicting agendas and priorities from an array of vested interest stakeholders!

Our successful leader will offer the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of HR systems with extensive system implementation and enhancement experience

  • Strong working knowledge of the full generalist span of HR, to help know the “knock on” implications of any functional changes

  • A track record of achieving global HR process efficiency complete with tailoring for local market requirements

  • A history of achieving HR data quality and consistency - this company has grown rapidly over time so you can expect to inherit a variety of information sources of varying quality

  • Ability to inspire and lead a team - with both direct and indirect reports around the world reporting into this person, we need a track record for successful team development and resource maximisation

  • Demonstrated success for harnessing virtual resources - this person will be regularly working through a variety of stakeholders inclusive of HR peers, Business Leaders, other corporate functions and external vendors; and will need to engage, advocate, and secure sponsorship if changes are to be embedded into the company culture

  • Exceptional project management skills, with a need to identify both current and future business needs and plan accordingly

  • Ideally, a history of working successfully across the complicated matrix of global companies

  • First-hand experience of the “getting stuck in” element that is part of any dynamically growing organisation.

  • Direct expertise for the due diligence and integration activities that accompany M&A events will be well regarded

  • Advanced communication and presentation skills - with a need to influence and impress the C-Suite right from the outset. This person will also be the “bridge” to convey technical concepts and requirements to non-technical people on a daily basis!

Please note, there is a “wishlist” of criteria beyond the notes above, but for sure, this role isn’t for “wall flowers”! It will best suit the professional who demonstrates thought leadership with a natural commercial flair, and who gets excited by the responsibilities of project ownership, change and challenge; and the impacts of new technology innovations.

This role is available to professionals already based from the US East Coast, Canada, UK or Israel - we don’t have options to support intercontinental relocation nor a work visa for this role. The global nature of this leadership post also entails regular and planned travel around the world so a current passport and full Covid vaccinations will be needed.

With a base salary equivalent from US$180,000 this role is also eligible for annual bonus, LTIP and a range of benefits - salary is expected to flex dependent on location and expertise levels.
