Global HR Projects Director - from USD 260,000 + package

ROLE FILLED - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADER COMMENCED AFTER SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OFFER

We’re seeking an accomplished HR all-rounder and HR technology expert for this international, mission-driven biopharm company, who have expanded rapidly as a result of acquisitions, new product development, and reach into new geographic markets. They’re cash-rich and have invested heavily in building an international HR team. Now they’ve reached a point where process efficiency and tech utilisation should elevate HR service delivery and aid more informed decision making, which in turn should enable the company to be increasingly competitive with its ongoing growth agenda.

With a plan to consolidate many acquired company HR technologies, and streamline an existing HRIS, there’s a need to adopt “wrap around” technology to digitalise workflows. There is also an appetite to automate many aspects of HR services. So one priority for this role is to directly lead a small team, and manage a number of indirect internal functional project contributors, to ensure “go live” targets are met, and to maximise ROI and user utilisation for an array of existing technologies that should already be enabling the HR function to offer more efficient and pro-active services to their internal customers.

A review of all HR operations is another priority - with a multitude of R&D, manufacturing, sales, and corporate function locations, the organisation is working towards a “one company, one world” approach for consistency and better alignment with their international external customers. With that comes opportunities for economies of scale, process optimisation, transparency and fairness. In turn, this requires an audit of all HR frameworks, risk assessments, development of a roadmap action plan, and then implementation oversight to ensure harmonization and refinement of all tools, processes, policies and frameworks - factoring in the ongoing requirements for localised approaches to meet cultural and legislative requirements.

The “multi hat” scope with a process excellence and complex project management focus of this role will suit a leader who knows how utilise resources to deliver solutions and services, without themself being caught up “in the weeds” to effect results. A leader with the ability to successfully juggle large numbers of projects of varying sizes, without overcommitting or repeatedly falling victim to scope blowouts! A leader who has exceptional consultation skills along with deep subject matter expertise to steer and focus others on the initiatives that will bring the most value both short and long term, in order to be deemed as viable and commercial successes by key HR stakeholders and the broader business; and to provide “future state” frameworks that will accomodate continued company growth.

This is a data driven organisation, with a focussed P&L agenda and ambitions for continuous improvement, and a predominantly techical workforce who demand ease of use and pragmatic solutions; so we need a leader who can “get stuck in” as required to support a relatively small team to achieve their objectives.

This is an ideal role for the professional who loves applying their broad HR expertise to know what questions to ask, to understand where surprises may be lurking, to appreciate and find harmony for conflicting agendas and priorities from an array of vested interest stakeholders!

Our successful leader will offer the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of HR systems with extensive system implementation and enhancement project management experience

  • Strong working knowledge of the full generalist span of HR, to help know the “knock on” implications of any functional changes

  • A track record of achieving global HR process efficiency, governance and excellence; whilst ensuring tailoring for local market requirements

  • A history of achieving HR data quality and consistency - this company has grown rapidly over time so you can expect to inherit a variety of information sources of varying quality

  • Ability to inspire and lead a team - with both direct and indirect reports around the world reporting to this person, we need a track record for successful team development and resource maximization

  • Demonstrated success in harnessing virtual resources - this person will be regularly working through a variety of stakeholders inclusive of HR peers, Business Leaders, other corporate functions and external vendors; and will need to engage, advocate, and secure sponsorship to effect changes at pace

  • Exceptional project management skills, with a need to identify both current and future business needs and plan accordingly - formal qualifications in Six Sigma, Kaizen or similar methodologies will be well regarded

  • Ideally, a history of working successfully across the complicated matrix of global companies

  • Direct expertise for the due diligence and integration activities that accompany M&A events will be well regarded

  • Advanced communication and presentation skills - with a need to influence and impress the C-Suite right from the outset. This person will also be the “bridge” to convey technical concepts and requirements to non-technical people on a daily basis!

Please note, there is a “wishlist” of criteria beyond the notes above, but for sure, this role isn’t for “wallflowers”! It will best suit the professional who demonstrates thought leadership with a natural commercial flair, and who gets excited by the responsibilities of project ownership, change and challenge; and the impacts of new technology innovations.

This role is available to professionals already based from the US East Coast, UK or Europe or with current work visas in place to work from those locations - we don’t have an option to offer a new work visa for this role. The global nature of this leadership post also entails occasional planned travel around the world so a current passport and full Covid vaccinations will be needed.

From US$260,000 salary plus package, the financials are expected to flex dependent on location and expertise levels.
