Senior HR Director - Canada
This senior HR leadership role sits at the centre of a highly visible, influential phase of change. It is ideal for a leader who thrives in complexity, enjoys building capability at scale, and wants their work to have a tangible, lasting impact on both people and performance.
You will shape and deliver the people strategy for a well-established manufacturing organisation undergoing significant transformation. With new product launches, operational efficiency initiatives, and an evolving commercial model underway, this role is at the heart of the business - partnering closely with senior leaders to enable change rather than simply support it.
Leading an HR team across multiple unionised manufacturing sites in Canada, you will have the mandate and backing to modernise the HR function, strengthen consistency, and ensure it delivers clear commercial value to the organisation.
There is significant scope to make a visible and lasting impact, with priorities including:
Leading change initiatives that simplify complexity and support a diverse, matrixed, multicultural operating environment
Building a future-ready HR function by evolving capability, structure, and ways of working with ambitious growth plans
Applying Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to deliver measurable gains in efficiency and effectiveness
Strengthening alignment between regional HR practices and global HR strategy, creating consistency while respecting local needs
Optimising workforce planning to improve productivity, strengthen succession pipelines, and enable effective knowledge transfer and benefits management
Designing and delivering a long-term Talent Acquisition and Talent Management strategy to support ongoing growth, internal mobility, and career development
Elevating leadership capability through targeted development and coaching of management tams across locations with varying tenure and experience
You bring broad, credible HR leadership experience and a track record of delivering sustainable outcomes in complex, unionised manufacturing environments. You are comfortable navigating matrixed international structures and partnering closely with senior leadership teams to turn strategy into practical action.
You are known for combining sound judgement with energy and ideas - able to challenge constructively, influence confidently, and focus on what will genuinely move the business forward. Commercially astute and people-focused, you consistently add measurable value while building trust and capability across the organisation.
Most importantly, you enjoy leading through change: developing teams, strengthening leadership capability, and leaving functions more effective, resilient, and future-ready than when you arrived.
This role is based in the Greater Toronto Area and operates within a hybrid working model. Given the nature of the role and the importance of visible, on-site leadership, regular presence across locations is a key part of building trust, supporting leaders, and staying close to the realities of the operation.
You can expect to spend approximately three days per week on site, with flexibility built in around the demands of the role. This balance reflects the organisation’s belief that meaningful relationships, effective change, and strong leadership are best supported by being present where the work happens.
Package includes a base salary starting from CAD 180,000 (potential to increase depending on expertise level) with a hefty package of STIP, LTIP, and considerable additional benefits.
