PENDING - Director of AI – flexible location

This mission-driven global organisation is known for innovation within its industry, and their execs believe that AI is critical to maintain their competitive edge. As a result, we are seeking a visionary Director of AI to lead the development and deployment of advanced AI and Gen AI solutions across commercial operations.

Reporting to a VP of Data Sciences, you’ll drive AI initiatives from concept to execution, building internal tools, integrating external platforms, and shaping governance frameworks that ensure responsible and ethical AI use.

In this high-impact role, you'll be a key voice in defining the AI strategy and roadmap, delivering innovative products like customer journey analytics, content generation engines, and forecasting models. You'll also assess "build vs. buy" opportunities to align solutions with business goals.

Another key focus will be establishing AI governance frameworks that meet evolving global regulations while embedding ethical standards across the AI lifecycle.

Collaboration is critical whilst you’re working cross-functionally to ensure seamless implementation and lasting adoption of AI solutions. You’ll also be acting as a strategic bridge between data science, IT, commercial teams, and leadership to enable scalable enterprise transformation.

And throughout all of your competing priorities, you’ll be turning complex AI capabilities into measurable business value, driving ROI and informed, data-driven decision-making.

Our ideal professional will have:

• A history of working successfully across the complicated matrix of multinational companies.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in technology related field.

• Demonstrated experience deploying Gen AI products (e.g., LLMs, GANs) in customer-facing or commercial environments.

• Strong technical foundation across cloud platforms, and machine learning frameworks.

• Experience navigating and implementing AI governance in regulated industries

• Advanced commercial acumen, along with credible leadership presence

• Strong business acumen and communication skills, capable of simplifying complexity and inspiring alignment across diverse stakeholders.

• An ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity while driving measurable outcomes

We will ideally base this role within the EU or the USA for ease of global time zone interactions.  Regular but well-planned travel across continents will be expected to consolidate relationships with both the team reporting into this role, and with an array of other stakeholders.
